HOUSING SELECTION SCHEME

Ulidia is a full participant of the Common Waiting List and Common Selection Scheme. This effectively means that all allocations are made in accordance with the rules of this Scheme.

The Selection Scheme has been jointly devised by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations. It represents a single gateway into social housing in Northern Ireland let on a permanent basis, whether owned and managed by the Housing Executive or any of the housing associations operating in Northern Ireland. It effectively provides a 'one-stop shop' for applicants, promoting equitable treatment by using common criteria to assess the housing needs of all applicants.

APPLICATIONS AND TRANSFERS

A common waiting list of all applicants and transfers who have applied for accommodation is maintained in each Housing Executive District and each housing association office. Designated officers are responsible for maintaining this waiting list and ensuring that every offer of accommodation has been made in accordance with the Common Selection Scheme.

Applications: If you wish to apply for social housing in Northern Ireland you should contact Ulidia or any Housing Executive District or housing association office. An application form will be forwarded to you which you should complete and return so that your housing needs can be assessed.
Transfers: If you are already a social housing tenant and wish to apply for a transfer or exchange to another dwelling which is owned or managed by the Housing Executive or a housing association, you should contact a Housing Executive District or housing association office and request a Transfer / Exchange Application form.
Ulidia Tenants: If you are currently a tenant of Ulidia Housing Association and wish to transfer to another Ulidia scheme or to another dwelling which is owned or managed by the Housing Executive or another housing association, you should contact Ulidia directly and speak to the Housing Officer who will forward an application form to you. When you have completed this form you should return it immediately to our office, together with any information you may have to support your request. The Housing Officer will arrange to visit you at your current dwelling to carry out an assessment of your housing needs. Your details will then be entered on the Housing Selection Scheme and you will be notified of your award of points.
Direct Exchanges: If you wish to carry out a Direct Exchange with another tenant of a social landlord you should contact Ulidia immediately to request a Transfer Form. The tenant with whom you wish to exchange should contact their landlord to request the same information. When forms have been completed and returned, a Housing Officer will arrange to visit you, and the tenant with whom you wish to exchange, to carry out an assessment of the suitability of the exchange. All requests of this nature must receive the approval of the Association's Housing Management Committee. You will be notified of their decision immediately.
