This
Section gives you advice on what to do if you have secured
alternative accommodation. It is a legal requirement of your
Tenancy Agreement to give the Association at least 4 weeks
written notice of your intention to terminate your tenancy.
If you fail to give due notice and squatters move in and/or
vandalism occurs, you may be held liable for any damages.
You may also be ineligible to apply for rehousing in the future.
On receipt of written notice of intention to terminate your
tenancy, the Association will, in the first instance confirm
its acceptance of the notice. Arrangements will be made for
collection of the keys and vacant possession of the property.
By the end of the notice period we will expect you to have
paid any money owed to the Association and have left the house
in a clean and tidy condition. Any possessions left in the
property after the notice has expired will be removed and
disposed of.
We will also expect all repairs that are your responsibility
to have been carried out. You should advise the Northern Ireland
Electricity, British Telecom and any other service provider
such as Cabletel that you are moving house. Please arrange
for them to disconnect services and where appropriate, read
meters and remove any apparatus or equipment.
Please
Note
The
Association cannot be held liable for any unnecessary costs
incurred due to tenants' failure to carry out any of these
responsibilities.
